What is a pet peeve?
Everyday, there are many people doing minor actions such as tapping their pencil repeatedly on a desk, saying the word “like” after every other word in their speech, walking extremely slow in traffic, or chewing their gum like an obnoxious cow. The people near and around them may find these actions extremely annoying. Those little things that annoy you in your everyday life are known as pet peeves.
Basically, pet peeves are actions or details that annoy and bother individuals the most. Here are the definitions of both words; pet and peeve.
Pet (adj.) - favorite; most preferred
Peeve (n.) - a source of annoyance or irritation
The combination of the words became a simple, straightforward term.
